Residential Electric Gate Installation in Bedfordshire

The county of Bedfordshire offers a wide variety of living environments, from picturesque country villages, to the London vibe cultivated by Luton, or the traditional market towns of Bedford and Leighton Buzzard. As you can imagine, the electric gate installations we carry out across Bedfordshire are, therefore, many and various. From a Victorian terrace in Bedford, to a thatched cottage in Pavenham or a new build in Barnfield, near Luton.

1st Choice Security Systems is based in Barton-le-Clay, midway between Bedford and Luton. We’ve been installing driveway gates for over 15 years now, and our installation process is bespoke. We make gates that fit your property and requirements, rather than fitting standard gates that that do neither. In order to help our clients end up with gates that are perfect for their needs, there are 4 questions we always ask them to think about in preparation for their electric gate installation in Bedfordshire.

1. Why are you Fitting an Electric Gate?

It may sound like an obvious question, but your reply will have a bearing on the design and positioning of your driveway gate. If you’re looking for enhanced security, for example, we would recommend a gate that obscures your property frontage from view. On the other hand, if you’re looking for an aesthetic enhancement, a more open design with a door entry system would be more appropriate.

2. Sliding or Swinging Electric Gate?

The 1st Choice team knows from 2 decades of experience, that every gate installation is unique, because every driveway has slightly different dimensions. This has an impact on the kinds of swing or sliding gates we fit.

  • Swing Gates. These require a deep driveway to accommodate the arc of the gate. If you have a shallow driveway, we recommend bi-fold gates which halve the depth of the arc required.
  • Sliding Gates. Installation requires lateral installation on either side of the driveway. If you’re lacking in space, we recommend telescopic sliding gates which allow sections of the gate to overlap as they open.

3. Wood, Metal or Iron?

Our bespoke electric gates are customised to match clients’ preferences. Whether you want to match your gate to the exterior of your home or integrate your name or house number in the design, that’s what we’ll do. Wooden gates offer a traditional aesthetic, aluminium gates are light and contemporary, whilst wrought iron designs offer an elegant heritage feel.

4. What Security Features Do You Need?

Many people who contact us about electric gate installation in Bedfordshire are looking to put in place a ‘first line of defence’ against intruders, scammers, and unwanted visitors. If this is your aim we would suggest, in addition to gate installation, an audio or video door entry system which allows you to assess visitors before they get to your front door it’s also worth considering residential CCTV which is a proven deterrent against opportunistic crime.
